Job description

The Highway Foreman 2 for the Department of Transportation is a role where you help lead highway maintenance projects that keep communities moving safely. This position oversees highway maintenance activities by planning projects, supervising crews, and ensuring safe and efficient field operations. As a Highway Foreman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Supervision: Direct daily work of operators and laborers across a full range of maintenance tasks
• Project Planning: Schedule work, assign resources, and evaluate field conditions to set priorities
• Safety Leadership: Maintain safe work zones, enforce safety procedures, and promote awareness of hazards
• Complaint Response: Investigate roadway concerns and identify solutions to improve conditions
• Training Oversight: Instruct staff in proper equipment use, maintenance methods, and workmanship standards
• Equipment Adjustments: Make field adjustments to vehicles and tools as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1;
• Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project;
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
