Job summary

Benesch is hiring a Transportation Engineering - Roadway/Highway Design Internship for Summer 2026. The role supports highway design projects, traffic analysis, and plan preparation under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Approximately basing in Wichita, KS; Manhattan, KS; Kansas City, KS, or Overland Park, KS offices, with mentorship and exposure to project sites. Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong interest in highway, roadway, or transportation engineering.
• Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D (Geopak or 3D modeling a plus).
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Organizational skills to handle multiple assignments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist in highway and roadway design projects.
• Support traffic analysis and plan preparation activities.
• Gain hands-on experience with engineering design software and construction documentation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to deliver tasks on schedule.
