Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation seeks a Roadway Programs Technician 1 to support pavement testing, roadway data collection, and system updates. You will work across field activities, equipment support, and data preparation to inform transportation planning and maintenance decisions.

You will perform testing and data collection, assist with vehicles and tools, and coordinate with team members.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Technical Assistant or equivalent title.
• One year of experience in analysis of data used for planning and scheduling.
• Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or related field.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants are considered within # months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• Current Class C driver's license not suspended.
• PA residency requirement.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pavement testing by driving test vehicles, operating equipment, and collecting roadway data.
• Help clean, maintain, and repair testing vehicles and tools used in data collection.
• Scan, edit, organize, and prepare roadway documents for system updates.
• Evaluate pavement condition data and verify information to program standards.
• Assist with site selection, traffic control and marking tasks for testing locations.
• Support technicians and management staff with meetings, reports and daily program needs.
