Job summary

CDM Smith’s Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group seeks an on-site Field Inspector to support project locations across multiple states. The role offers hands-on inspection duties, direct supervision under senior inspectors, and opportunities to gain real-world experience on transportation construction projects.

You will read and interpret plans, perform material testing sampling, and ensure compliance with the Quality Control Plan.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer applications.
• Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor. Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports, verify quality control procedures and material testing.",
