Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an inspector to perform basic to moderate inspections of transportation infrastructure, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications. The role involves reading drawings, documenting results, and communicating findings to the project supervisor from a field setting in the United States.

Candidates should have a High School diploma, up to 2 years of related experience, and relevant certifications such as ACI or NICET where required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of related inspection experience.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Travel up to 40% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic to moderate inspections of transportation infrastructure to evaluate materials and construction against plans, specifications and provisions.
• Use industry standard gauges and calculations to perform inspections.
• Review inspection-related documentation including drawings and specifications.
• Prepare for inspections as necessary.
• Understand the part of the design that will be inspected.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the project supervisor.
• Perform other duties as required.
• After reviewing drawings, plan basic complexity inspection projects.
• Planning may include developing inspection assignments for other inspectors on the project.
• Conduct basic complexity field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation.
