Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site CEI inspector to monitor highway construction projects across multiple locations in the United States. The role involves performing complex inspections of roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance to ensure adherence to plans and specs.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma with required state/NICET/ACI certifications, a valid driver’s license, and about 6 years of related experience. Travel up to 40% may be required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English communications, both spoken and written.
• Basic arithmetic proficiency for measurements and calculations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook for field reporting.
• Ability to learn new technologies and software.
• Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read and explain construction plans, drawings, and specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify materials and processes meet plans and specifications.
• Use appropriate equipment and perform calculations for inspection tasks.
• Work under supervision suited to assignment knowledge.
• Review drawings in preparation for inspection.
• Document inspection results and communicate findings to supervisor.
