Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an inspector to join our CEI team, performing complex construction inspections across multiple locations. This on-site role requires reading plans, ensuring conformance with specifications, and documenting outcomes for project success.

The ideal candidate has 6 years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and certifications from state or national bodies in earthwork or asphalt if required. Domestic/international travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties and projects.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes against plans and specs.
• Use advanced equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to assignment knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
