Job summary

Accura Engineering in Birmingham, AL is seeking a CEI Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspection on roadway, bridge and transportation projects. You will verify plans, materials, workmanship, maintain project records and support project engineers throughout construction.

You will inspect asphalt and concrete, monitor traffic control, review plans, prepare reports, and assist with project meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 18 months to 3 years of transportation inspection experience or equivalent.
• Experience inspecting roadways, bridges and heavy civil construction.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs and contracts.
• Knowledge of highway construction materials, methods and inspection procedures.
• Must obtain required GDOT certifications within specified time frames.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent inspections of roadway and bridge construction activities.
• Inspect asphalt and concrete materials, pavement placement and quality.
• Inspect structural components and operations including foundations and reinforcement.
• Monitor traffic control devices and erosion control measures.
• Prepare reports and maintain inspection records.
• Supervise or direct other inspectors as assigned.
• Participate in project meetings and field plan reviews.
