Job summary

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in civil and highway engineering, construction engineering, maintenance engineering, or related fields.
• Current registration in Illinois as a PE or as a Licensed Structural Engineer.
• Ten (10) years of civil/highway engineering experience preferred.
• Eight (8) years of prior management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee highway program development and annual and five-year improvement plans.
• Direct rights of way acquisition and easements for highway projects.
• Prepare contract plans, specifications and estimates for projects.
• Select professional services and supervise contractors to ensure compliance.
• Manage traffic controls, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee maintenance programs to ensure safety and reliability.
• Provide policy direction on personnel, training, payroll, and bureau operations.
• Oversee department operating budget development and expenditure control.
