Job summary

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways is seeking an experienced Highway Superintendent to manage all operations, budgets, and staff across transportation and highway functions. Qualifications

• Five years of experience in civil and highway engineering or related field.
• Current Illinois PE or SE registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee annual and five-year highway improvement program planning for capacity and safety.
• Oversee rights-of-way acquisition for highway projects.
• Direct preparation of contract plans, specifications and estimates.
• Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with contract provisions.
• Manage operating budgets, purchasing procedures and department policies.
