Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina is seeking a skilled laborer to support the construction, repair, and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system. You will perform varied manual tasks, operate medium equipment such as a tandem dump truck, and help set up safe work zones following DOT guidelines.

The role requires six months of related experience or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled manual labor on roads and bridges as part of the state highway system.
• Operate medium equipment, including tandem dump trucks, as needed.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices to set up safe maintenance work zones.
• Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations.
• May be required to work extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
