Job summary

Caton Construction Group is seeking a General Laborer for roadway/bridge work in Marion, VA. Starting pay is negotiable based on skills and experience, with a salary range from $19.00 to $26.00 hourly.

The role involves physical labor, tool operation, site preparation, trench work, and assisting foremen on diverse construction tasks across projects in Marion. Local or occasional out-of-town work may apply; driving is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license required.
• 2+ years of heavy/highway construction experience.
• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor and operate various tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in general or heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work.
• Shovels bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas.
• Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Performs materials handling and storage.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Providing assistance to Foremen and other Supervisors as needed, mixing, pouring and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work.
• Laborers may also spend time with traffic control and flagging.
• Laborers operate a variety of equipment and must adhere to company safety procedures and practices at all times.
