Job summary

Caton Construction Group is seeking a General Laborer for our Wake County, NC bridge and roadway project. The role involves physical labor, site clean-up, tool use, and support for foremen on heavy/highway work.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and 2+ years of heavy highway experience. Work hours are Mon-Fri, with possible overnight travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License
• 2+ years of heavy highway experience (roads, highways, bridges, DOT, or site work).

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in general or heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work.
• Shovels bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas.
• Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Performs materials handling and storage.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Providing assistance to Foremen and other Supervisors as needed, mixing, pouring and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work.
• Laborers may also spend time with traffic control and flagging.
• Laborers operate a variety of equipment and must adhere to company safety procedures and practices at all times.
