Job summary

The Caton Construction Group is seeking a General Laborer for a roadway/bridge project in Marion, Virginia (Smith County). This full-time role involves physical labor on construction sites, operating hand and power tools, and assisting other crafts. Starting pay is negotiable and based on skills and experience.

Travel may be local with some overnight stays as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean site, handling materials, loading/unloading, and following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of heavy highway experience; Roads, Highways, Bridges, DOT, or site work project experience.
• Valid Driver's License Required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in general or heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work.
• Shovels bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas.
• Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Performs materials handling and storage.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Providing assistance to Foremen and other Supervisors as needed, mixing, pouring and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work.
• Laborers may also spend time with traffic control and flagging.
• Laborers operate a variety of equipment and must adhere to company safety procedures and practices at all times.
