Job summary

Caton Construction Group is seeking a General Laborer for roadway projects in Richmond, Virginia. Starting pay is negotiable and based on skills and experience, with duties including site prep, material handling, and assisting other craft workers.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and 2+ years of heavy highway experience. Normal hours are Monday–Friday, with potential overtime and overnight travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• 2+ years of heavy highway experience on roads, highways, bridges, or site work.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on general or highway construction projects.
• Shovels bituminous concrete into construction areas.
• Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintains a clean job site and secures tools and equipment daily to prevent hazards.
• Performs materials handling and storage.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Follows safety and incident-reporting procedures.
• Assists Foremen and Supervisors; helps with form work and material mixing.
• Laborers may assist with traffic control and flagging; operates equipment as directed.
