Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks an experienced RN for the Transfer Center to facilitate patient entry and bed utilization. The POE nurse coordinates with ED staff, case managers, and physicians to ensure appropriate admission placement and efficient patient flow.

The role emphasizes compassionate, multidisciplinary care, accurate documentation, and adherence to EMTALA guidelines while maintaining high-quality patient care and cost-effective resource use.

Qualifications

• Two years as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital setting.
• Bed placement experience highly preferred.
• RN - Texas State Licensure – permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing residency)

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with ED physicians and case managers to identify admission plans.
• Coordinates patient flow and bed utilization.
• Oversees patient placement based on admission criteria, diagnosis, and clinical needs.
• Reviews orders and documents working diagnosis for ED placements.
