Job summary

Medical City Plano is seeking an RN Coordinator to optimize patient movement across markets. You will match clinical needs with bed capacity, coordinate transfers, and collaborate with referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staff to ensure safe, timely patient throughput.

You will engage with leadership to identify barriers, track trends, and support process improvements while maintaining professional communication standards with peers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ related clinical experience in an acute care setting (ED or Critical Care preferred).
• RN License in the states where the facilities are located; multi-state license if Transfer Center spans more than one state.
• Knowledge of hospital operations and patient care practices; strong problem solving, analytical, prioritization, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats and to manage multiple tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Performs transfer center functions, including centralized patient placement, in a timely, customer-centered manner using established protocols.
• Coordinates transfer of emergent, urgent, and elective patients to final destination facilities from all referral sources.
• Facilitates patient throughput with focus on quality and efficiency; provides follow-up to transfer participants.
• Maintains collaborative relationships with referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staff.
• Ensures accurate data collection and documentation in patient records and center workflow systems.
