Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department in the Birmingham area. This full-time day shift role focuses on supervising nursing and support staff, coordinating patient care, and ensuring staffing coverage.

You will assess daily care needs, assign and educate staff, monitor outcomes, and address patient care concerns through established channels. A valid RN license in Alabama, BLS, ACLS, and ED experience are required.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• ACLS obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff.
• Assess daily patient care needs and develops and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
• Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels.
• May provide input for hiring, training and evaluating of staff.

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Required professional licensure/certification. 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
