Job summary

Birmingham Rehabilitation & Wellness Center is seeking an experienced RN to lead staff development and education for the nursing department. The RN Staff Development Coordinator will oversee onboarding, competency programs, and scheduling to ensure safe, compliant staffing.

This full-time role operates days, Monday through Friday, in Birmingham, AL, with competitive pay of $40 to $46 per hour and benefits designed to support a stable, high-quality care team.

Qualifications

• Active Alabama RN license (or multistate) required.
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver new hire orientation for licensed nurses, CNAs, and other nursing staff.
• Develop and maintain the annual in-service calendar, including CNA in-service requirements using our online education portal.
• Conduct and document skills competencies at hire, annually, and as needed based on audits, incidents, or survey findings.
• Support the Infection Preventionist with infection control, hand hygiene, and PPE training.
• Identify training needs through QAPI data, survey results, and staff feedback, and build targeted education plans.
• Coordinate PTO requests and schedule changes in line with facility policy.
• Participate in QAPI, survey readiness, and mock survey activities.
