Job summary

Genesis in Gardendale, AL is seeking a Nurse Educator to orient and educate nursing staff, ensuring safe, evidence-based care in our long-term care facilities. You will report to the Director of Nursing and develop education programs, supervise orientation, and conduct competency assessments.

Qualifications include an RN license from an accredited school, 3+ years of clinical experience (long-term care preferred) and training in adult learning.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current RN license.
• Minimum three years full-time or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
• Two years of clinical experience in long-term care nursing with one year as an educator preferred.
• Excellence in clinical nursing skills required.
• Experience in Gerontology preferred.
• Training and/or experience in adult learning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Orient and educate all nursing personnel in the nursing center.
• Ensure safe, effective nursing care according to guidelines and policies.
• Report to the Director of Nursing.
• Develop education programs in response to staff needs and teach current practices.
• Supervise and monitor new nursing employees during orientation.
• Perform annual competency testing and evaluate staff performance.
• Oversee Employee Health Program (TB, vaccines, influenza immunizations).
