Job summary

Intermountain Health in Montana is seeking an RN Shift Lead I to provide leadership and clinical expertise on the assigned shift and department. The role focuses on coordinating unit resources to align staffing with census and acuity, while supporting staff professionalism and safety.

The position is part-time, day shift, at St James Hospital in Butte, MT, with responsibilities including collaboration with staffing, disaster lead duties, and ongoing participation in unit and hospital committees.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required within 4 years unless 15 years of acute care service.
• Current State of Montana Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and/or provides direct patient care, supports staff in patient/family issues, risk management, safety and hospital policies.
• Respond to patient emergencies; act as charge or lead for disasters as needed.
• Collaborate with staffing office; adjust staff numbers for census changes during shift.
• Communicate with oncoming Charge Nurse about census, staffing, admissions, discharges, and important patient information.
• Support unit management in productivity, staffing, timekeeping, and coordinating unit activities.
• Participate in hospital committees as unit representative as needed.
• Promote mission and values of Intermountain Health; adhere to service behavior standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May float to other departments within competency.
• May be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
