Job summary

The SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) seeks a Resource Nurse to plan, provide, and evaluate educational programs for staff across OMH. Working under the Director of Education, Training and Research, you will coordinate orientation, ongoing staff education, and competency assessment.

Responsibilities include teaching nursing and clinical content to inpatient teams, training staff on the EHR, and developing curricula to meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RN and graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• BLS certification may be required for some positions.
• Be able to work with diverse staff and patients; English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement and teach educational offerings for nursing and staff, including New Employee Orientation and data entry into SCEIS.
• Train inpatient nursing staff on the EHR system, teaching navigation and compliant documentation.
• Design and revise content for orientation and ongoing education to meet regulatory standards.
• Evaluate educational programs' effectiveness.
• Follow-up with newly hired staff to resolve educational issues.
• Create training programs for Inpatient Services to meet program needs.
• Orient student nurses affiliated with OMH and support recruitment by sharing experience.
• Consult with employees on clinical/administrative issues.
• Complete annual trainings and attend committee meetings; assist other trainers as time allows.

Skills

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Education

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Licensed as a registered nurse by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
