Job summary

BayCare is seeking an experienced ICU Charge Registered Nurse to join the team at St. Joseph's South in Riverview, FL. The role involves direct patient care in the Medical/Surgical ICU, with shifts from 6:15 PM to 6:45 AM and every other weekend.

The position requires an RN license, ICU experience, and current BLS/ACLS certifications. Strong clinical leadership and teamwork are essential, with opportunities for growth within BayCare’s large network.

Qualifications

• RN license is required and must be in good standing.
• CCRN/CDN/CNN certification or eligibility within 7 months of hire.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or BS Healthcare related field or RN Specialty Certification within 7 months of hire.
• Minimum 2 years RN ICU experience in an Acute Care setting.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients using the nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other health care team members.
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient vitals and assessments to the care team.
• Identifies sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition and responds to emergencies.
• Coordinates discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge.
• Maintains professionalism and acts as a role model for nursing staff.

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• RN Professional, nationally recognized and applicable to the current primary area of practice - CCRN, CDN or CNN

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing OR BS Healthcare related field OR an RN Professional Nurse Specialty Certification within 7 months of hire/promotion
• 2-years' RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Charge Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
• Acts as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team
• Developing self and team members and sharing organizational information
