Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular ICU at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. This full-time role requires overseeing ICU patient care, supervising staff, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards.

The position demands an RN license, 2+ years of ICU experience, and active BLS/ACLS certificates, with a CCRN/CDN/CNN specialty credential preferred. Evening/night shifts and in-person availability are expected.

Qualifications

• RN licensed registered nurse with active credentials.
• 2+ years RN ICU experience in acute care setting.
• Bachelor's in Nursing or related field; RN specialty cert within 7 months of hire.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to ICU patients using nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate care to health team members.
• Monitor patient vitals, update care team on status.
• Identify and respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• RN Professional, nationally recognized and applicable to the current primary area of practice - CCRN, CDN or CNN
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing OR BS Healthcare related field OR an RN Professional Nurse Specialty Certification within 7 months of hire/promotion
• 2-years' RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

The Charge Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
• Acts as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team
• Developing self and team members and sharing organizational information
