Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Immediate Care Center Patient Flow Coordinator RN (PFC, RN) in Bronzeville for part-time, 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays. The nurse will perform comprehensive assessments, coordinate patient flow, and provide direct care and education within the ICC.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum two years of RN experience.
• Preferred: 3+ years in emergency/urgent care; national certifications (e.g., CEN, TCRN).
• Proficiency with Epic electronic charting system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure OSHA compliance.
• Report deficiencies to supervisor and assist in rectifying them.
• Supervise appropriate care of medical equipment.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings in the medical record.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and follow release protocols for information.
• Demonstrate clinical competency in routine nursing duties (phlebotomy, meds, vital signs, specimen prep).
• Interpret abnormal test results and take appropriate remedial action; document interventions.
• Coordinate care with other clinical and administrative departments; communicate with outside agencies as needed.
• Triage and prioritize calls and results; communicate plan of care to patients via phone or MyChart; document assessments.
• Manage urgent emergencies per protocols and operate emergency equipment as needed.
• Serve as a resource and provide clinical education to staff; participate in teaching and mentoring.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education; ensure understanding and return demonstrations when pertinent.
• Other duties as assigned.
