Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network seeks a Professional Development Specialist (PDS) who is a self-directed, expert nursing educator. The PDS serves as educator, change agent, researcher, mentor and role model within the department and across clinical areas.

The role involves developing competency-based orientations, coordinating education initiatives, and advancing nursing professional development through mentorship and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• RN licensure in the state of employment.
• Certification in Nursing Professional Development required within two years.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NRP as applicable.
• Excellent communication and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: Communicates with new hires to introduce orientation, assess learning style, and outline the orientation process.
• Documentation: Maintains competency-based orientation plans and education records.
• Education leadership: Coordinates preceptor development and specialized educational events for staff.
• Mentorship: Serves as a mentor for RNs and other care providers and supports professional development of peers.
