Description:The unit has 24 inpatient beds and can handle 10 observation/day surgeries.The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 for day shift and 6:1 at 11 pm.LPNs work until 11 pm with a team nursing approach, resulting in a 2:7 ratio.Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, and sepsis.Experience with TURPS-CBI is preferred.Candidates must be comfortable with IV starts, as there is no dedicated IV team.All RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips.There is a charge nurse who takes an assignment in addition to their responsibilities.Nurse aides are available on the unit.Clientists or intensivists are present until 6 pm daily, after which telemedicine is utilized.Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 in the ICU.Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge is necessary.Shifts are 12 hours long, with rotating weekend requirements every other week.Holiday coverage is also required for 2 out of 3 holidays.There is potential for call or standby shifts.Floating to similar units and patients is required.The dress code is solid professional attire.Unit-specific orientation is provided.
