Description:Candidates must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility.Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of the contract.RN's must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation.This is an open book exam on skills learned, and resources will be provided.A 90% score is required to pass; failure to do so will result in termination.If RNs are placed on call and then called back in, they must arrive within 30 minutes.The unit has an average of 22 beds with a daily census of approximately 6 patients.Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:5-6.Common diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulders, and spine surgery.RNs are not required to titrate drips.Common medications administered include pain medications, antibiotics, and blood.A charge nurse is present on each shift, and they do take an assignment.Patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1:13.Telemetry techs interpret strips on the unit.Shifts are cyclic with requirements for weekend work every other week.Holiday work is rotated in with permanent staff.Floating may be required to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU with MedSurg acuity.Only one day of unit-specific orientation is provided.Successful attributes for this unit include being team-oriented, flexible, and having a willingness to learn.Requests for time off must be submitted upfront, and additional requests will not be approved.The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during the assignment period.The charting system used is EPIC.
