Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (Med Surg) for a 13-week travel assignment in Minnesota. The role requires 1 year of RN experience, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and prior travel experience.

You will work 12-hour night shifts on a 3rd-weekend rotation, with a 36-hour work week, in a 25-bed unit with orthopedic and general post-op cases. Expect to titrate IV drips, monitor telemetry, perform charting in EPIC, and participate in discharge planning when appropriate.

Qualifications

• RN with at least 1 year of experience.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required.
• Must have completed a travel assignment before.

Responsibilities

• Provide postoperative care for orthopedic and general surgical patients.
• Titrate IV drips including heparin and manage IV starts.
• Read telemetry strips and monitor patient status with charge nurse support; prepare discharges when needed.

Description:The unit has 25 beds.Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 during days and 1:5 during nights, based on acuity.Common diagnoses and types of patients include heavy orthopedic post-operative cases such as hips, knees, spine, and shoulder surgeries, along with general post-operative cases, pneumonia, CHF, COPD, and geriatric patients with multiple comorbidities.Pain control post-operative care is monitored overnight.RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, and preferred experience with insulin, Cardizem, Levophed, and Dopamine.There are no monitor techs on the unit; nurses are required to read their own telemetry strips with assistance from the charge nurse when necessary.A charge nurse is present, but they rarely take on assignments and assist in preparing discharges.There are two nurse aides per shift to assist with patient care.Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and nasal cannulas; vents are rarely encountered and must be managed by permanent staff or experienced travelers.Scheduling consists of three 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, with block scheduling allowed depending on needs.Weekend requirements include working every third weekend: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.Holiday requirements follow a rotation for every third holiday.There is no call or standby requirement.No floating is required for this position.Scrub colors are navy blue and navy scrub jackets, with flexibility for under shirts in any color or print.The charting system used is EPIC.
