Description:This position involves working in a 34-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit.The nurse to patient ratio is 1:3-4.Common diagnoses include stroke, spine and back surgeries, cranial surgeries, medical neuro disorders, and neuro intervention procedures.Average patient length of stay is between 2-5 days.Neuroscience Nurse Practitioners provide support for all neuro surgical and neuro intervention patients 24/7.The facility serves a large geographic area and is the only site providing neuro surgery.Nurses are not required to titrate drips.There are Certified Nursing Assistants available with a ratio of 1:8.Respiratory Therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and trach support.Monitors will be available in the summer of 2024, and the workflow for monitoring is still being determined.Shift scheduling is 7pm to 7am, managed by the leadership team.Weekend and holiday work is required as needed.Traveling nurses may be the first to float to support all Medical Surgical areas.Nursing staff can wear scrubs of their choice as long as they are clean and professional.Unit-specific orientation will include two days plus didactic training.Candidates must be outside of a specified radius to be considered for this position.The facility adheres to a cancellation policy allowing up to four shift cancellations per 13-week assignment.The charting system used is EPIC.
