This RN Medsurg role is on our Oncology Unit at Cobb Hospital.

Schedule: 7pm-7am - 36-hour week.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team that ensures high-quality, safe patient care. They work under Nurse Managers and are supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies align with these models and the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, the Scope of Practice, and the Code of Ethics by the American Nurses Association. They uphold patient advocacy, system policies, and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Perform nursing assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation using evidence-based practices. Provide individualized, culturally sensitive, patient-centered care, partnering with patients and families to meet their goals.
  2. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinate safe, quality care, communicate effectively across disciplines, document timely and accurately, and foster a respectful, inclusive environment. Support performance improvement activities and participate in shared governance.
  3. Professional Development and Initiative: Complete required competencies and education, serve as a preceptor or mentor, and model professional nursing practices.
  4. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promote research and quality improvement, participate in data collection, and utilize evidence to improve care.
  5. Resources and Support: Plan for patient care across the continuum, develop protocols, and support resource efficiency.

Minimum Education: Associates or Bachelors in Nursing (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications: Valid RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact), BLS certification (Instructor preferred). All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise specified.

Experience: Less than 1 year of clinical nursing experience required. Direct patient care experience is preferred.

Skills: Ability to perform the responsibilities outlined, with adherence to legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
