7pm-7am - 36 hour week.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, individuals are expected to uphold the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and ensuring individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care that reflects understanding of population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others (as appropriate) using methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching, keeping the patient and their goals central to the care plan.
  • Practices using current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates safe, quality patient care and documentation, promoting a professional care delivery model. Uses inclusive communication methods (interdisciplinary rounds, case review) and ensures timely documentation, fostering a respectful, inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and promoting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Supports performance improvement and research activities, participating in shared governance and quality initiatives.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes all professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serves as a preceptor and mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

  • Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement, participating in data collection and clinical research questions.
  • Adheres to healthcare policies, standards, and regulations, including safety goals and accreditation standards.

Resources and Support

  • Plans for patient care across the continuum and participates in protocol development to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient use of resources.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Education

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)

Minimum Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor preferred

Experience

  • Less than 1 year of clinical experience post-nursing education required
