This RN Medsurg role is on our Oncology Unit here at Cobb Hospital.

Shift: 7pm-7am - 36 hour week.

Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment managed by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are required to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. They are expected to advocate for the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating effectively with team members.
  • Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and cultural diversity.
  • Partner with patients and significant others through methods like bedside report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and keeping them informed, focusing on patient goals.
  • Practice according to current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinate safe, quality patient care and documentation, fostering respectful, inclusive communication and a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by practicing responsibly and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare staff.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance activities.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete all required professional competencies and mandatory education.
  • Serve as preceptor or mentor to promote workforce development and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promote evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement activities.
  • Adhere to healthcare policies, standards, and accreditation requirements, including safety goals.
  • Participate in data collection and clinical inquiry, consulting with experts as needed.
Resources and Support
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum.
  • Contribute to protocol development to improve outcomes, such as reducing readmissions and adverse events.
  • Use resources efficiently.

Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Education
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Nursing degree (Bachelor's preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
  • Less than 1 year of clinical experience post-graduation preferred.
Skills
