Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are required to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They must implement the Scope of Practice and adhere to the Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, they are expected to uphold patient voices, system policies, procedures, and support service excellence goals.

• Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating through effective partnerships to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics, reflecting cultural diversity.
• Partners with patients and significant others through methods like bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education, focusing on patient goals.
• Practices according to current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

• Coordinates safe, quality care documentation and delivery, promoting respectful and inclusive interdisciplinary communication and a positive clinical environment.
• Practices in a fiscally responsible manner, supporting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
• Supports performance improvement activities, research, and shared governance to enhance patient safety and care quality.

Professional Development and Initiative

• Completes professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
• Acts as a preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

Minimum Education Requirements

• Associates or Bachelors in Nursing (Bachelors preferred)
