Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, MN, seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Intermediate Care (IMC) Float Pool at the University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus.

The IMC Float Pool RN will care for adult medical-surgical patients with complex conditions, requiring close observation, monitoring, and interventions. Join a team of highly skilled experts delivering diverse patient care daily.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • RN license from Minnesota Board of Nursing required.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 2 years Med/Surg or Critical Care RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and develop nursing care plans.
  • Provide high-acuity care across varied adult med/surg populations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams and families to meet patient needs.
  • Delegate and supervise duties to support staff as a team leader.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and safety at all times.

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Intermediate Care Float Pool at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN.

The Intermediate Care Float Pool RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with sophisticated medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. This unique department is a specialty group comprised of highly skilled experts that support patient care throughout the hospital. Schedule

This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the Day shift with an every third weekend rotation (F,S,S) and a holiday rotation.

About Our IMC Float Pool Department
  • Our team is prepared to work with a variety of complex, high acuity adult patient diagnoses.
  • You will float to General Med/Surg, Orthopedic Med/Surg, IMC, Acute Rehab Center, Transitional Care Unit, and the Emergency Department!

Responsibilities

The RN is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations.

  • Providing care in an empathetic, equal opportunity manner that is crucial to patients and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and prioritizes care accordingly.
  • Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
  • Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
  • Demonstrating the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and health care team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate D Degree in Nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
  • 2 years of Med/Surg or Critical Care RN experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
  • 1 year of Telemetry Experience
  • 1 year of Peripheral IV start experience
  • 1 year of Emergency Department, Intermediate, or Progressive Care Unit Experience
