Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Adult Med/Surg Float Pool at the University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The role covers General Med/Surg and related units with a 12‑hour night shift and every third weekend rotation.

The Float Pool RN will work in a high-acuity, dynamic environment, float to multiple units, and collaborate closely with the care team while keeping patient-centered care a priority.

• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing

Responsibilities

• Provide care to adult Med/Surg patients with close observation and monitoring.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care per policy and MN Nurse Practice Act.
• Develop and modify nursing care plans through assessment and discharge.
• Lead and delegate duties to other staff as a team leader.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and deliver culturally competent care.

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Adult Med/Surg Float Pool at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The Adult Med/Surg Float Pool RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. This unique department is a specialty group comprised of dedicated nurses that support patient care throughout the hospital. Schedule:

This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift with an every third weekend rotation (F,S,S) and a holiday rotation.

About Our Float Pool Department at the UMMC West Bank:

• As a Float Pool RN you will float to General Med/Surg, Orthopedic Med/Surg, the Acute Rehab Center and Transitional Care Unit.

Responsibilities

The RN is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act:

• Providing care in an empathetic, equal opportunity manner that is crucial to patients and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
• Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and prioritizes care accordingly.

• Prioritiz ing , delegating , and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
• Maintain ing confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
• Demonstrat ing the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Collaborat ing with patients , famil ies , and health care team members.

Required Qualifications

• Associate D egree in Nursing
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
• 1 year of Telemetry Experience
• 1 year of Peripheral IV start experience
• 1 year of Emergency Department, Intermediate, or Progressive Care Unit Experience
