Job summary

Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA is seeking an RN Float Pool nurse to support multiple departments with rotating day/night shifts. You will provide versatile nursing care across units, stepping into open shifts to keep patient flow moving and ensure quality care.

The role offers a higher wage incentive for flexibility and expertise, with full-time benefits and access to in-house education. Active IA RN license and ability to cover diverse units are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg experience or equivalent hospital experience.
• Critical care experience preferred.
• Must be willing to fill Resource Nurse role.
• Must have or willing to obtain: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, Hazmat, Mandatory Reporter, AMLS, NRP (in-house education available).

Responsibilities

• Varying shifts in the ED, ICU, Resource, Med/Surg, Birth Center (post-partum), Behavioral Health Services, & Same Day Service Pre-Op and PACU.
• Utilizes the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care across departments.
• Assumes responsibility for nursing care outcomes during a work period.
• Collaborates with nursing staff to deliver total patient care.
• Follows age-related patient protocols for physical and psychological needs.

Responsibilities:

• Varying shifts in the ED, ICU, Resource, Med/Surg, Birth Center (post-partum) Behavioral Health Services, & Same Day Service Pre-Op and PACU.
• Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care in the various departments in the hospital.
• Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period.
• Collaborates with all available nursing personnel to provide total patient care.
• Must have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg experience required or equivalent hospital experience
• Critical care experience preferred
• Must be willing to fill Resource Nurse role
• Active IA RN license
• Must have or willing to obtain upon hire: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, Hazmat, Mandatory Reporter, AMLS, and NRP (inhouse education available upon hire!)
• Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems

Schedule:

• Full Time benefit eligible
• 72 hours/pp
• 12 hour Day/Night rotation
• Weekend and holiday rotation per department requirements
• The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the hospital
