Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist to support surgeons during operations, coordinating instruments and supplies and providing perioperative patient care. You will assist with exposure, tissue handling, and maintaining sterile technique alongside the surgical team.

The role requires active RN licensure, CNOR certification, and BLS within 30 days, with at least 2 years of perioperative nursing experience.

Qualifications

• RN license (state) must be active
• CNOR certification required or in process as applicable
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries.
• Ensure trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready for each procedure.
• Provide patient care and support, administer medications.
• Perform surgical tasks: hemostasis, suturing, draping, tissue handling.
• Position patient and prepare operating table; monitor vitals.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare.
