Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons during general and specialized surgeries. You will manage supplies, assist with procedures, and provide direct perioperative care in a collaborative OR setting.

The role requires RN licensure, CNOR certification, BLS within 30 days, and 2+ years of perioperative nursing. You will participate in postoperative assessments and contribute to efficient room turnover and patient education.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with active license in applicable state
• CNOR certification preferred
• BLS within 30 days of hire
• 2+ years of perioperative nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries; ensure trays, instrumentation and supplies are ready
• Provide patient care and support
• Administer medications
• Scrub and circulate as needed in the OR
• Position and prepare patient on table; monitor vital signs
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare
• Conduct post-operative assessments; monitor for pain/complications
• Study patient history and health assessments; monitor wound/site healing
• Participate in OR turnover and equipment coordination
