Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons during operative procedures and provide perioperative assessment and post‑operative care. The RNFA will work collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure safety, proper instrumentation, and optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications include RN licensure, CNOR, BLS, RNFA program completion, and at least two years of perioperative nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with CNOR certification and BLS within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries; ensure trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready.
• Provide patient care and support.
• Administer medications.
• Scrub and circulate per unit needs.
• Monitor vital signs and patient status intra- and post-operatively.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare.
• Perform post-operative assessments and aid in infection monitoring.
• Assist in room turnover and equipment coordination.
