Job summary

Medical City Las Colinas, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks an RN for Day Surgery to evaluate patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, and support a high-quality patient-centered care environment. The role features guaranteed shifting with 4–10 hour shifts, on-call coverage during select non-business hours, and collaboration with a dynamic surgical team.

Qualifications include an active RN license, ADN/degree, and required ACLS/BCLS/PALS within the indicated timelines.

Qualifications

• Active RN license or eligibility in the state of Texas
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent
• ACLS within 90 days of start date
• BCLS within 30 days of start date
• PALS within 90 days of start date

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri-operative process
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy
• Respond to patient emergencies and deliver patient-centered care
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and nurses to improve care
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to ensure safe care
• Monitor patient condition and document changes during shift
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up
