Health Advocates Network, Inc. in Commerce, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide specialized care in a correctional juvenile setting. Applicants must hold a California RN license and BLS, with at least 1 year of inpatient experience in a secure juvenile detention facility.

Qualifications

• Active, valid California RN license in good standing.
• Minimum of 1 year recent inpatient RN experience in a secure juvenile detention facility.
• AHA BLS Certification required.
• MAB or CPI certification.
• LA City Fire and Life Safety Card required (must be LA City).
• Must complete LA County Employee Health Clearance before assignment start date.
• Provide PSV from licensing board or verification agency if required.
• Maintain current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunizations).

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adolescents with acute and chronic medical conditions, behavioral health concerns, and developmental needs.
• Conduct intake health screenings and administer medications and treatments.
• Respond to medical emergencies and monitor youth in medical observation.
• Coordinate care with physicians and mental health professionals; maintain accurate health records.
• Work in a secure forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement.

Nursing Specialty: Correctional (Preferred Juvenile Correctional)

RN Duties & Responsibilities:

• RNs will be assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for adolescents with acute and chronic medical conditions, behavioral health concerns, substance use disorders, and developmental needs.

• RNs will be conducting intake health screenings, administering medications and treatments, responding to medical emergencies, monitoring youth in medical observation, coordinating care with physicians and mental health professionals, maintaining accurate health records, and providing age-appropriate health.

• Individuals should be comfortable working in a locked forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

• Minimum of one (1) year recent experience as a Registered Nurse in-patient experience within a secure juvenile detention facility

• AHA BLS Certification

• MAB or CPI

• LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City)

• Must complete the LA County Employee Health Clearance before assignment start date

• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., . BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
