Job summary

HAN Staff is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Los Angeles, CA to join our team for night shifts (2200-0630). The role involves working with juvenile inmate patients in a locked forensic environment, delivering high-quality patient care, and coordinating with medical teams.

Qualifications

• Current, valid CA license/certification in good standing
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Correctional RN
• Preferably with juvenile inmate experience
• Comfortable in a locked forensic environment with frequent law enforcement interactions
• AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS certification
• MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card
• LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to start date
• Copy of PSV from licensing board if required
• Copy of all required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunizations)

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, plans, meds, and discharge.
• Respond to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures.
• Maintain compliance with regulations and infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR records.

Nursing Specialty: Correctional (Preferred Juvenile Correctional)

Registered Nurse (RN) Duties & Responsibilities:

• Will be working with juvenile inmate patients who are incarcerated struggling with mood, anxiety, and other behavioral conditions in a variety of settings.

• Individuals should be comfortable working in a locked forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement

• Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.

• Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.

• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.

• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.

• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.

• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting safety and quality outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Correctional Registered Nurse in a patient experience,

• Preferably with a background in working with juvenile inmate patients who are incarcerated struggling with mood, anxiety, and other behavioral conditions in a variety of settings.

• Individuals should be comfortable working in a locked forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement

• AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS Certification,

• MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City),

• Completion of the LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to the assignment start date.

• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
