Job summary

Northwell is seeking an experienced registered nurse to provide age-specific nursing care using the nursing process across assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The role involves coordinating with physicians and health team members, leading care on the unit, delegating tasks, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout treatment and discharge planning.

The ideal candidate will have a NYS RN license, a BSN (or progress toward BSN) and strong clinical judgment

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within five years of job entry date.
• Current NYS RN license required; specialized certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s health status and perform comprehensive nursing assessment.
• Assess psychosocial health status and identify coping mechanisms and education needs.
• Identify patient outcomes and establish individualized goals.
• Formulate and prioritize the care plan; coordinate resources and medications.
• Implement and monitor the care plan; ensure safety and timely care; document actions and patient responses.
• Evaluate care effectiveness and outcomes; contribute to quality improvement.
• Collaborate with physicians and care team; delegate tasks as appropriate.
• Provide wound care and pressure ulcer management (Stages I–IV).
• Administer medications safely; educate patient and family about drugs and interactions.
• Participate in patient and family education; ensure clear post-discharge instructions.
• Perform related duties as required under ADA.
