Job summary

Midwest Health in Hastings, NE is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in our long-term care community and supervise nursing assistants to ensure high-quality care.

You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards, participate in surveys, manage care plans, and coordinate services across departments. This on-site role requires a current RN license and strong clinical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this Community.
• Meet with your assigned nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the shifts' services, programs, and activities.
• Cooperate with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident's total regimen of care is maintained.
• Ensure that all nursing service personnel are in compliance with their respective job descriptions.
• Participate in Community surveys and inspections made by authorized government agencies as requested.
• Interpret the department's policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, changing dressings, taking blood, and range of motion exercises as required.
• Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
• Receive telephone orders from physicians and transcribe on the Physicians' Order Form.
• Chart nursing notes reflecting the care provided and the resident's response.
• Complete accident/incident reports per Community policy and submit to RCC or Unit Manager.
• Record new/changed diet orders and forward information to the Dietary Department.
• Inform the Nurse Supervisor of staffing needs when assigned personnel fail to report to work.
• Report absentee call-ins and no shows to RCC and/or Scheduling Coordinator.
• Review and evaluate the department's workforce and develop work assignments.
• Make rounds to ensure staff perform as assigned.
• Maintain good working rapport with coworkers and other departments; review complaints and grievances.
• Nurse report must be given and received when coming on and off each shift.
• Report occupational exposures to blood and other hazards per Community policies.
• Monitor safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies and recommend equipment/supply needs.
• Review care plans daily to ensure appropriate care is rendered.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
