Job summary

GE Vernova in Rugby seeks an Operations Manager to lead manufacturing performance, shape future site strategy and develop high-performing teams. You will balance hands-on shop floor leadership with strategic priorities, embedding lean and continuous improvement across safety, quality and delivery.

You will drive automation initiatives, optimise layout, and manage cross-functional relationships to enable scalable, high-quality production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical education and leadership experience.
• Proven leadership in manufacturing within a complex industrial environment.
• Strong Lean manufacturing principles and management systems understanding.
• Track record of delivering improvements across SQDC.
• Experience with standard work, visual management, and shop-floor discipline.
• Experience influencing manufacturing strategy in regulated environments.
• Analytical skills to translate data into action.
• Experience leading change and transformation programs.
• Capital investment, factory layout optimization, and automation exposure.
• Experience with SAP and ERP-based decision support.

Responsibilities

• Lead the manufacturing operation with 6 Supervisors and ~80 shop-floor staff.
• Foster a strong safety culture and stop-work authority.
• Develop and execute manufacturing strategy to support growth and capacity.
• Optimize labour deployment and supervisory capability.
• Develop leadership talent and succession plans.
• Lead Lean initiatives and standard work across the operation.
• Deliver a continuous improvement roadmap using Lean, RCA, 5S and Kaizen.
• Strengthen process controls and quality management alignment.
• Oversee CAPEX planning for layout optimisation and flow improvements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement automation and advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Use dashboards and analytics to drive decisions and measurable results.
• Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, quality and delivery.
