Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Information Security Systems Engineering in Salt Lake City to support RMF and DoD-compliant security for mission-critical systems.

The role collaborates with systems, software, and hardware engineers to implement security controls, develop artifacts, and support authorization activities. You must have an active secret clearance and experience applying RMF in DoD contexts, along with knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, STIGs, and ATO processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or related field required; 6+ years of experience, or graduate degree with 4+ years; in lieu of a degree, 10 years of relevant experience.
• Active secret clearance required for role.
• Experience applying RMF in DoD environments and implementing NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Knowledge of STIGs, ATO processes, and security control documentation.
• Familiarity with cryptographic systems (FIPS 140-3) and NSA certification processes.
• Experience with secure development, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
• Experience working with embedded or classified systems and cross-functional teams.
• DoD 8140 / 8570-certified qualifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, SSCP) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute RMF lifecycle activities: categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring.
• Develop, maintain, and review RMF artifacts (SSP, SAR, POA&M, Security Plans).
• Interpret and apply NIST SP 800-53 and related guidance to systems.
• Support STIG implementation and baselines for secure configurations.
• Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to implement security requirements.
• Interface with Authorizing Officials and assessors to support authorization.
• Track compliance status, risks, and remediation with program leadership.
• Contribute to continuous monitoring strategies and ongoing system compliance.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
