Job summary

Holmes Murphy & Associates is offering a Risk & Safety Intern program for Summer 2027 in Denver, CO and Waukee, IA. This 10-week on-site internship provides exposure to risk management and workplace safety within the Property Casualty team.

You will assist with research, develop client deliverables, and observe regulatory requirements (OSHA/DOT). Prior coursework in risk management or safety is desirable; compensation is provided for interns willing to engage in onsite activities.

Qualifications

• Enrolled at a 4-year institution.
• Majors pursued include Risk Management & Insurance, Safety, Business.
• Prior work experience is a plus, preferably in customer service, safety, or administrative role.

Responsibilities

• Learn how Risk & Safety consultants help clients identify areas for improvement in their risk and safety programs by observing and assisting team members.
• Assist with research and analysis of clients’ risk and safety programs and processes, including loss trend analysis across workers’ compensation, auto, property, and liability coverages.
• Support the development of client deliverables such as training materials, safety policies and procedures, and program recommendations.
• Gain exposure to on-site and remote client services such as training seminars, hazard assessments, and strategy development.
• Learn about regulatory compliance and reporting requirements, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Participate in prospective client meetings and assessments to understand each prospect’s unique needs.
• Learn about insurance industry trends and how Holmes Murphy collaborates with carrier loss control and underwriting personnel to provide value to shared clients.
• Perform special projects and other duties as requested.

Job Description: Holmes Murphy Risk & Safety Intern – Summer 2027 Denver, CO AND Waukee, IA (Onsite) We are looking to add a Risk & Safety Intern to join our Property Casualty Risk & Safety team in Denver, CO AND Waukee, IA.
