Job summary

Holmes Murphy seeks a Risk & Safety Intern for Summer 2027, onsite in Denver, CO and Waukee, IA. This 10-week program offers hands-on exposure to risk management and workplace safety within the Property Casualty team, with a culture that prioritizes learning and development.

You will assist with client analyses, develop training materials, observe OSHA/DOT regulatory requirements, and learn from industry experts and leadership.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at a 4-year institution or pursuing enrollment.
• Majors pursued by prior interns include Risk Management & Insurance, Safety, Business, and Industrial Hygiene.
• Prior work experience is a plus, preferably in customer service, safety or admin roles.

Responsibilities

• Learn how Risk & Safety consultants help clients identify improvements by observing and assisting team members.
• Assist with research and analysis of clients’ risk and safety programs across multiple coverages.
• Support development of client deliverables such as training materials and safety policies.
• Gain exposure to on-site and remote client services, trainings, hazard assessments, and strategy development.
• Learn regulatory compliance and reporting requirements, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Participate in prospective client meetings to understand needs.
• Learn how Holmes Murphy collaborates with carrier loss control and underwriting personnel.
• Perform special projects and other duties as requested.

We are looking to add a Risk & Safety Intern to join our Property Casualty Risk & Safety team in Denver, CO AND Waukee, IA. Offering a forward-thinking, innovative, and vibrant company culture. Join us for our 10-week summer program for an internship opportunity that will give you invaluable insights into the industry while getting exposure to learning and developing skills in the insurance industry, specifically on the risk management and workplace safety side of the Property Casualty business.

You Will

• Learn how Risk & Safety consultants help clients identify areas for improvement in their risk and safety programs by observing and assisting team members.
• Assist with research and analysis of clients’ risk and safety programs and processes, including loss trend analysis across workers’ compensation, auto, property, and liability coverages.
• Support the development of client deliverables such as training materials, safety policies and procedures, and program recommendations.
• Gain exposure to on-site and remote client services such as training seminars, hazard assessments, and strategy development.
• Learn about regulatory compliance and reporting requirements, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Participate in prospective client meetings and assessments to understand each prospect’s unique needs.
• Learn about insurance industry trends and how Holmes Murphy collaborates with carrier loss control and underwriting personnel to provide value to shared clients.
• Perform special projects and other duties as requested.
