Job summary

Holmes Murphy is offering a Risk & Safety Intern position for Summer 2027, onsite in Denver, CO and Waukee, IA. This 10-week program provides hands-on exposure to risk management and workplace safety within the Property Casualty team.

You will observe, research, and assist with client risk and safety analyses, develop training materials, and learn regulatory requirements (OSHA/DOT) while engaging with clients and leadership. This paid internship supports growth and industry insight.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled or in pursuit of enrollment at a 4-year institution.
• Majors pursued include Risk Management & Insurance, Safety/Occupational Safety, Business, Industrial Hygiene.
• Prior work experience is a plus, preferably in a customer service, safety, or administrative role.

Responsibilities

• Learn how Risk & Safety consultants help clients identify areas for improvement in their risk and safety programs by observing and assisting team members.
• Assist with research and analysis of clients’ risk and safety programs and processes, including loss trend analysis across workers’ compensation, auto, property, and liability coverages.
• Support the development of client deliverables such as training materials, safety policies and procedures, and program recommendations.
• Gain exposure to on-site and remote client services such as training seminars, hazard assessments, and strategy development.
• Learn about regulatory compliance and reporting requirements, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Participate in prospective client meetings and assessments to understand each prospect’s unique needs.
• Learn about insurance industry trends and how Holmes Murphy collaborates with carrier loss control and underwriting personnel to provide value to shared clients.
• Perform special projects and other duties as requested.

We are looking to add a Risk & Safety Intern to join our Property Casualty Risk & Safety team in Denver, CO AND Waukee, IA. Offering a forward-thinking, innovative, and vibrant company culture.
